Dominion Cove Point LNG

3S Incorporated designed and provided Notifier controls and heat detection to release a Victaulic Vortex hybrid water mist suppression system into Dominion Cove Point’s turbine enclosures.  A custom valve house was fabricated at 3S to house the Vortex system and fire suppression release panel.

The Vortex system cools the fire by producing the smallest droplet size water particle in the industry and inerts the atmosphere with Nitrogen.  The atmosphere is inerted to a safe level while preventing combustion from occuring.  The system does not require a completely sealed room or expensive agents.  Minimal water usage eliminates the need for containment like foam or deluge systems.  No cleanup and low-cost Nitrogen recharge reduces operating downtime.
